The Background of Casino Craps
The recorded history of Craps dates all the way back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Eightteen Thirteen. Hazard is thought to be a offshoot of Azzahr, meaning 'the die' a game played by Arabs.
The game evolved as it traveled from the Arab countries to Europe and then to England. By the early eighteenth century, cultivated rules for Hazard had been established. France adopted the British version of Hazard and is thought to have been imported to America by early French colonists. In the mid-1700s, when the English defeated the French in Canada, the French settlers migrated to Louisiana. Dice were played on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a streamlined 'American' version of Craps was created. The game moved west and is a well-known game that is competed in all over the U.S. and throughout the world.
The name 'Craps' is believed to be a French articulation of the phrase crabs, which alludes to a pair of '1s'. There are two general types of Craps that are played-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, correctly named seeing as it's played on the streets is where a player establishes a point and then tries to make that point. The betting is made either for or opposed to the tosser and another person has to cover the bet for the dice game to go on.
In bank Craps, which is the popular game, wagered on in betting houses, the betting house funds the game. The participants compete with the house-the casino covers all of the bets of all of the individuals. Craps was a very well-loved game but in the last twenty years had split itself and different games, such as poker and twenty-one became even more well-known. However, Craps is observing a surge in recognition once again in internet betting houses and in land based betting houses.
