NL Hold'em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn't let the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
